Slimming
A new disco has opened in the Pattaya Dragon Complex on 2nd Road between Sois 5 & 6. It is reportedly the latest venture from the people that ran the popular but ill-fated Route 999. It is aimed primarily at Hi-So Thais with two rooms, a DJ Club and Fashion Club. The DJ Club has a large stage also overlooked by a large balcony. The decor is good and the sound system is impressive. The Fashion club features coyote dancing and has private booths. The girls are said to be very pretty. The beer selection is limited to bottled corona at 250 Baht a knock. Lady drink tequilas are also 250 Baht. There also seems to be a very expensive policy of having to order a tequila yourself to drink with the lady. The Thai norm of ordering a bottle of whiskey for a group seems to be the way to go here. Barfines are reportedly 15,000 Baht but I would take this as meaning the dancing girls aren't barfinable rather than anyone being expected to pay this amount. |

Oasis in Soi Buakhao
The GoGo is looking for around 50 staff so it looks to be quite a large venture. It is being undertaken by the owner of the other Soi Buakhao GoGo, Paradise |

After Midnight
The venue, billed as a nightclub, is located in the Soi Marine Plaza not far from Coyotee's A-GoGo where the soi runs parallel to Walking Street. Club Insomnia is the upstairs bar of the two in the building. The venue was last used as Player's Dance Club The bar will feature coyote dancing to European dance music and it claims that it has a policy of cheaper drinks than the competing Tony's and Lucifer's. First impressions are that it is a place to take a lady rather than find one. The club is dark with laser lighting and the dancing girls on opening night impressed. The music was said to be harder than the 'hitz for kidz' at Tony's/Lucifer's but not house music. |

The Future is
More Comfortable
Roxy on Walking Street has now added some nice new bench seating. More erotic lesbian and oil shows have also been added to the repertoire. |

XXX
A-GoGo Go Nextdoor
I am not sure if this is a permanent arrangement. Perhaps XXX will be reopened only when the number of customers justify it. The extra girls meant that Baby Dolls A-GoGo had a bit more bustle and seemed more enjoyable as a result. There were now a few more pretty girls on hand and they seemed to be getting well friendly with the customers. Apart from the usual topless dancing there is now a bit of a show, basically an excuse for a couple of pretty girls to get naked. |

Electric Windmill
Show
It is a joint venture between the owners of Windmill Club and Electric Blue and is now in the business of far more wholesome and erotic shows featuring only girls. The bar is medium sized with comfortable bench along the edges of the bar overlooking a central stage. There is of course plenty of stool seating too. Shows were alternating with gogo dancing and there were some pretty lithe showgirls taking part. Early days but there were half a dozen showgirls and half a dozen topless dancers. Drinks prices were 110 Baht for bottled beer, coke and lady drinks. There is no draft beer option. Early days, but the operation of the bar was not very successful for me. The showgirls were hiding away in the changing room when not on duty and all the dancing girls are dragooned onto stage when there is no show. This leaves the customers totally devoid of female company during the dancing stints and made for a bit of dead atmosphere. The usual Isaan shuffling was hardly sufficiently entertaining in its own right. Given the previous success of Electric Blue and Windmill Club, then an increase in momentum will put this to right and make for a successful venture. |

Bar
Games in JomtienSkip's Mardi Gras Pub on Jomtien Soi 5 has recently become Noy Bar Beer. A little further up the same soi, Ma La Ba La Bar, has also changed name and presumably ownership to become the IQ Bar. It now looks a little bit more like a bar and less like a generic Thai front room.
Martin's Bar nestled amongst the gay bars of Jomtien Complex has also been a casualty |
| 15th November | Draft
This week I have spotted a sign for 30 Baht draft beer at Star Meeting Point. This is quite a pleasant bar but somehow finds itself off the beaten track even though it is only a 1000m from Walking Street. It is located on the road up Pratamnak Hill just before the new tourist police station.

More Water Fun From Stickman The owner of Blue Lagoon at Center Condo plans to launch a second gogo bar in the same Pattaya Tai complex. Amazon a-gogo, said Rohr, will open on the ground floor of Center Condo - South Pattaya Road. So why add a second venue in the same complex? Look how many gogo bars are in Nana Plaza, reasons Rohr, the Norwegian entrepreneur. Meanwhile banners have gone up announcing a new dance venue in Soi Marine Plaza (near Coyotee's A-GoGo). The venue previously managed a short run as Player's Dance Club. The opening date is scheduled for around November 24th. The new venture is to be called Club Insominia. |

Shuttered
Hardly likely to be a reaction to the Queen's comments about coyote dancing in temples. Probably more to do with Pattaya customers preferring less clothes on their dancers. Update: Blacked out The bar has now re-opened with the windows blacked out. Presumably so that passers-by can no longer see the coyote dancing. |

Dirty Dancing
The Culture Ministry failed to set a minimum age for coyote dancers at its meeting yesterday which had been expected to rule on the issue. Culture Minister Khaisri Sri-aroon said she needed to study information
from relevant agencies before enforcing any measures to curb the apparent
surge in using risque female dancers to promote products and lure
customers into bars. |
