Sakura Club 69 changes hands

Sakura Club 69 on Soi 15, just off Walking Street, has now changed hands.

Previously it was connected with Baby Dolls, Windmill & Tramps but a lack of dancers left the bar closed and on hold.

The new owners will re-open the gogo soon.

Changes at Heaven Above

Heaven Above have knocked out a wall to accommodate a more efficient bar. The DJ has been moved to his own corner of the club complete with a new sound system, speakers & digital laser lights.

Apart from the center stage, there are now podiums for Coyote Dancers.

New seating will mean more comfort & better viewing.

Since there is a new & bigger bar they now have both Tiger & Heineken Draught on tap.

There is grand re-opening party on Saturday 29th September.

Heaven Above re-opens after temporary closure

Heaven Above will be open on Friday 28th September starting at 8:00pm.

This will be our 'Soft' opening to make sure all of our new fixtures and staff are in place and all is working.

We will have a grand opening party next week if all goes well.

The bar had been closed for a month by police order.

Classroom 2 in north Pattaya, Soi 2 has also re-opened after its police closure.

There are now 74 operating girl gogos listed.

VIP now more club than gogo

The rarely mentioned VIP Club & GoGo located on Walking Street below Polo Entertainment seems to now be more club than GoGo.

It is now a night club with late hours (from 10pm?), high prices (150 baht beer, 800 baht bar fine) and coyote dancing.

The bar has therefore been relocated from the gogo pages to the bar pages leaving just 72 bars now operating as girl gogos.

Bob's BBQ moves to LK Metro

The well regarded restaurant, Bob's BBQ & Grill closed recently at its 3rd Road/Pattaya Tai location.

The restaurant is now locating to Soi LK Metro of Soi Buakhao and will open on 1st October

New gogo on Walking Street

A new banner has appeared on a double shop front proclaiming a new bar, Casnovy A-GoGo.

It is located on the same side of the street as the nearby Voodoo, Pinky Girl & Silver Star 3

No opening date on the banner but there is clearly some building work still to be done.

New bar on Soi 6

There's a new bar taking shape at the 2nd Road end of Soi 6 net door to the lady boy gogo, Tornado.

Soi 6 regulars tell me that it may well be a gogo bar or at least have dancing. Hopefully of the female variety.

Betty Boup Dance Club at the other end of the soi seems to be doing very good business, so surely a girls gogo would have a good change of similar success.

Government to target girls outside bars

Maybe having an effect on Soi 6 too? And what about open beer bars?

Action will soon be taken against karaoke bars that seat scantily clad hostesses by the street to attract customers, Culture Watch Centre director Ladda Tangsuphachai said yesterday.

She said women in provocative dresses should remain inside bars. Police in Bangkok and elsewhere would be asked to keep karaoke bars and other entertainment venues in check.

A large number of karaoke bars and similar venues have opened in major Bangkok areas, including Lat Phrao, Pracha Chuen and Charan Sanitwong Road. They employ female staff in provocative attire to hail passing cars.

Ladda said she sympathised with women working in the nightlife industry but added that revealing dresses should not be worn and openly seen in the streets, even though such venues operated late at night.

She said she was following up an instruction given to her by Culture Minister Khaisri Sriaroon and Deputy Education Minister Varakorn Samkoses. She said the Interior Ministry, which gives permits to entertainment venues, may not renew the permits of uncooperative venues.

New disco opens in Bali Hai Plaza

On the 3rd Floor of the New Bali Hai Plaza at the South end of Pattaya Beach, the grand opening took place of a new Discotheque aimed at the foreign and Thai market.

Mixx Nightlife offers two rooms of music featuring a variety of dance and hip-hop music. Area 1 is known as the Rouge Club and features the best of R&B and Hip Hop, area 2 is the Crystal Palace featuring the best of House, Trance and Progressive Music.

New plans for Super Model

The closed Super Model A-GoGo is now showing a poster that it is destined to become Insomnia Gentleman's Club.

This will be a coyote dancing bar run by the same people that run the popular late night Cub Insomnia

Angelwitch introduces happy hour

Angelwitch has now introduced a happy hour running from opening at 8pm until 9:30pm. The welcome boards do not indicate exactly what is on offer though.

It seems a sensible move as shows don't start until 10pm. There seems very little point supping on expensive beer way before the shows start.

Sisterz opens on Walking Street

Sisterz is located in Walking Street opposite Soi Diamond and was previousy Honey A-GoGo.

The large bar has been attractively designed and features a large central stage and smaller stage with a frame.

The majority of the seating in the bar is stools but there is still some comfortable bench seating for the lucky few.

There were 30 dancing girls in attendance and also half a dozen hostesses. There seems to be two tiers of dancing girls. The prettier girls were wearing an alluring minimal one piece that would surely not placate any passing police looking for too much flesh. The second tier and majority of the girls were bikini clad.

The draft beer is served in a small glass but is not expensive at 35 Baht before 9pm and 55 Baht after.

The music seemed well selected to keep the dancing girls happy without being too offensive on the ears of the oldie farangs.

The bar clearly hopes for great things as they have adapted the policy of the likes of the popular Heaven Above by ignoring customers during happy hour. Presumably all the early birds are dismissed by the girls as no hopers or "cheap charlies".

My happy hour visit was pretty boring, only the bikini clad shufflers were dancing and the A-Team girls were sitting around looking seriously glum. 35 girls sitting waiting for the fun to start and not one of them could inquire where you come from? or even raise a smile.

But somehow the bar has potential and I will surely visit again at a more fun hour.

Oasis Coyote opens on Soi 8

I was drawn inside by the enthusiastic welcome staff with signs showing draft beer at 45 Baht. The draft is served in a good sized glass too so currently a bargain.

The bar is pretty dark and the dance music is pretty loud but otherwise the bar is organised as an overdressed gogo. Particularly as there are no individual stages. Instead the dancers perform on a single large stage in batches of 5 at a time. There seemed enough girls to make up about 3 dancing teams.

The girls were dressed in shorts and blouses and most would be pushed to get a job in the more prestigious coyote bars.

There are stools near the stage and comfortable seats in dark corners at the back. These are a little bit too far from the stage for a good view but presumably the large space between seats and stage is for customer dancing or something.

Anyway I enjoyed the aircon and cheap beer for a while, but it wasn't long before I moved on to a bar offering dancers with a lot less clothing.

The bar is located in the reception area of the old Prince hotel. This is located in the centre of Soi 8 and is also the home of Anna Bar and Rolling Stone 3.

Silver Star closed for renovation

The original Silver Star A-GoGo in Soi 8 is closed for 1 month. The owners are said to be remodelling the bar based upon the new Silver Star 2 & 3 layouts.

It has also been suggested that the closure may have been on police orders.

The current count of operating gogos is now 73.

Smoking soon to be banned in aircon bars

Smoking will soon be banned in night entertainment venues, once a new Health Ministry regulation takes effect, a seminar in Bangkok was told yesterday.

But Dr Seri Hongyok, a deputy head of the Department of Disease Control, said patrons of karaoke bars, pubs, nightclubs and cafes would still be allowed to smoke in designated areas: Smoking will be barred only in air-conditioned areas or in other public places where non-smokers are.

The department would enforce a regulation under which violators would face fines up to Bt20,000.

But Tornado blows off course

The old Honey A-GoGo is due to re-open tonight as Sisterz. The new bar has been re-modelled according to the guiding hand of long time Pattaya manager, Ricky.

Happy hour draft beer will be 35 Baht.

The other new Pattaya gogo bar, Tornado A-GoGo, has opened and it seems to be mainly a lady boy bar.

Unnamed bar closed

Police Lieutenant Colonel Santi and a team of Pattaya Police Officers conducted a raid of Bars on Soi Pattayaland 2 in South Pattaya on Monday Night as part of a killjoy campaign.

One bar on the street was closed down after explicit shows were found to be taking place and license irregularities were found. The manager of the Bar which we are unable to name for legal reasons, was arrested and a number of female performers were also taken into custody.

Tahitian Queen 2 open later in the afternoon

Tahitian Queen 2 on Soi BJ just off Walking Street have changed their afternoon hours. They are now open from 5pm. The previous hours proved a little too quiet from 2-5pm

New gogo on Pattayaland

The old All Girls venue on Soi 13/4 (Soi Pattayaland 2) is being returned to service and will be known as Popcorn.

Not sure what form the bar will take (or indeed which of the 3 genders) but hopefully a girls gogo.

Later opening and earlier closing

Far East Rock on Soi 13/2 (Soi Post Office) has abandoned the late night hours and now closes at 9pm. It opens at 1pm for the afternoon shift.

The police raids doing so much to ruin Pattaya's shows seems to be having a secondary effect. Closing time has been brought back to 2am.

VIP Club on Walking Street below Polo seems to be remodelling itself as a late night club. There are now no signs of life until about 10pm and it is reported that drinks prices have been raised substantially to typical night club levels.

Club Boesché has also decided to open a bit later. It now opens at 8:30pm as opposed to the old 8pm. The thinking is that the lack of a happy hour makes the bar uncompetitive during the early evening and it ends up being pretty dead early on in the evening.

Sisterz on Walking Street (The old Honey A-GoGo) is progressing towards its opening date and now has some smart new signs bearing the new name.
