As the countdown to the opening of the much-hyped Secrets bar/hotel/restaurant ticks down to September 1st, the invective being hurled by its backers and critics on the Internet seems to escalate daily.

Ground Zero for the mud-slinging is on Pattaya Chat, a discussion board started by separatists from Pattaya Secrets, the discussion board operated by the Secrets hotel owners. The original affronts any of the involved individuals suffered during many nights of drinking and carousing in the real world are ancient history, but the bitterness they harbor gets rehashed daily in the virtual world.

In this cyberwar, the Chat mob is undoubtedly the most public in its hostility. The board’s founder and other like-minded admins regularly launch attack threads against Secrets, its backers and anyone who they suspect of collaborating with the enemy, using slanderous adjectives and per se libelous accusations. Anyone expressing views counter to the moderators’ is quickly labeled a troll, spy or worse.

Pattaya Secrets’ bosses are more discreet in their attacks, locking up diatribes and accusations on an ultra-exclusive Level 3 section of the board. Those found leaking info posted on Level 3 are banished to lower levels and threads critical of Chat are quickly locked down and the posters often banned and posts are regularly deleted.

A more-rational personal might wonder why anyone would get so worked up over a website. But the hardcore posters on both boards just can’t let it lie. Both sides report having received multiple death threats, but the obsession exhibited by Chatters is truly bewildering, since the site is (supposedly) just for fun, not profit. The Secrets gang might be forgiven for taking things more seriously, as their website is used to promote the new bar and hotel.

Words are a powerful weapon and one that gives power to too many of the religious fanatics, hate mongers, perverts, UFO believers, conspiracy theorists that run rampant on the Internet. Perhaps its time both sides in the Pattaya chat wars should keep that in mind.

Starting from today, Phil who previously managed very successful improvements at the Windmill Club, will be working at Naughty Girls in Soi Diamond.

The bar is already one of my favourites and Phil is promising to make it even naughtier.

Changes will start with the installation of a large screen TV showing live sports on UBC.

I am sure many will join me in popping to say hello in what should prove fertile new pastures.

Pook A-GoGo on Soi 6 has made a couple of alterations and has decided to extend the operating hours.

The stage, previously set against the back wall, has been relocated to the centre of the room.

The bar has decided to extend the operating hours to midnight (previously 8pm). Also they have a couple of bargirls downstairs holding A-GoGo signs just to make it a little clearer that there is an upstairs GoGo.

At 8pm the gogo was staffed by about half a dozen dancing girls. The girls were up for a bit of fun but the girl I chatted to was very pushy.

The bar seems to have hiked up the lady drinks prices to an enormous 150 Baht. (I didnt fully check the prices as I went, but did notice bottled beer was 95 Baht. The bill was 490 for 2 beers and 2 lady drinks making for 150 Baht lady drinks)

Somehow I think it will be a while before I visit again.

From today onwards, X-Zone are introducing an original idea for a happy hours promotion.

Every night, till 10 pm, if you barfine (short time) one of the X-Zone girls, then all your drinks to 10pm will be 1 Baht.

Perhaps there is an opportunity for a snappy advertising advertising campaign slogan here.

VIP Club & GoGo has been relaunched and is now a little closer to a GoGo than a Dance Club.

The bar has hired more dancers making for about 30 girls. The previous dance wear has been replaced by short skirt and skimpy top, and even better, many of the girls now dance topless.

The bar has been re-arranged a little and it is very attractive. There were 3 tables with 2 dancing girls and 3 other stages along the bar with 1 girl.

The drinks prices were very reasonable, a good sized glass of draft for 45 Baht, 80 Baht for bottled beer, 95 Baht for a lady drink and 550 Baht for a bar fine.

The mamasang seemed to be doing a good job ensuring that the customers had girls to chat to (if they wanted the company that is, no-one was being overly pushy)

In addition I was entertained by 2 friendly girls who had remembered me from a previous visit and who made for a very pleasant visit.

Tony's fitness centre and European dance club has opened on Soi 16 off Walking Street. It is just past Covent Garden and is accessed via Tony's car park.

There is an enormous bill board/sign so you can't miss it.

It promises 24 hour opening but as fitness is not my scene I will have to wait on others to review what goes on there.

Phil, who has done so much to rejuvenate the Windmill Club in Soi Diamond has left. No apparent dramas to report, just a decision that it's time to move on.

A new manager has been appointed from the UK (another Midlander by the name of Russ).

Also the booths along the side wall of the club have now been replaced with a long sofa - so much easier to get in and out.

Champion is taking time off in low season for a much needed refit.

The bar will be closed until the end of August.

I spotted a couple of Champion girls relocated at X-Zone.

Police from Bangkok raided the Hot and Cold Bar in Soi Post Office. at 3:30 in the morning. The customers (only a couple) were allowed to leave The bar girls were checked for id and were piss tested .Several girls from Laos who did not have id were taken away.

Update: The bar still seems pretty much the same as usual. I tried asking the girls but the raid seems trivial and consigned to the history books already.

After several weeks of renovations, 3 Angels has reopened on the site of the now defunct DMT's on Soi 6. from the outside, you wouldn't really notice anything different. Signs have changed, girls haven't.

Inside the main bar, it still looks pretty much the same. Mirrors with Xmas lights around them remain. New sofas and wall treatments and the addition of a big bike on display (presumably the angels in the name are more to do with motorbikes than celestial singing)

DMT's, like most Soi 6 bars, had shit rooms, shit beds, shit showers and shit lighting. Not anymore. The new Dutch owner spent the money where it counts: In the bedroom. New entrance, new doors, new walls, flooring, everything. Looks like a proper Western-style budget hotel now.

Gone is the communal shower with the half-working hot water and obligatory bucket. Now each room has its own shower with good water temp and pressure. There is inset incandescent lighting and new beds and mattresses.

The hot news is that the famous Eden Club in Bangkok is to open a branch in Pattaya. The owner Marc is said to be imminently signing the lease.

The almost mythical status of Bangkok's Eden seems to be based on its encouragement to dally with multiple ladies. There is also the famous yellow line on the floor that designates the girls that offer all three bodily options for fun.

Eden Club Pattaya is to be located in Soi LK Metro off Soi Buakhaow and will be open in 2 or 3 months

On Thursday evening a squad of 70 Bangkok-based police decided it was time they had a little sojourn into the fleshpots of Pattaya and spent some hours wandering about the various beer bar complexes and go-go bars as well as a couple of the more infamous soapy massage joints.

Accompanied by a frothing gaggle of media hacks, all armed with television cameras as well as the latest in still digital cameras, the upstanding men and women of the Bangkok police force visited the Sabailand Massage Parlour on Second Road. Here they interviewed a number of the more attractive and younger looking girls, asking them to produce their Identification cards in order to prove that they were all over the legal age to engage in activities involving water, soap and excitable men.

Satisfied with this, the police troop then moved onto a number of beer bars in the Soi 2 area and once again were compelled to chat with the more attractive and younger looking girls and checking identification cards.

Then it was into a couple of the go-go bars where many members of the media were excited to find a large number of ladies who were wearing g-string bikinis. On of teh GoGos was the newly opened Highway Star.

A senior policemen told one bar owner that the 2:00AM closing time should be enforced and that staying open later than this is against the law.

There have been reports of a couple of bars in North Pattaya and Naklua being given a 30 day closure order.

Key players decided to break away to work on a new bar/hotel called Secrets. They created a new website, Pattaya Secrets, that carried the Internet momentum to become an equally successful forum.

Even a website, Pattaya Chat, born out of discontent with 'the FLB/Secrets establishment' has become very popular, if a little more raucous than its peers.

Hardly surprising then that Secrets Hotel and Bar is much talked about. Plans will soon come to fruition as an opening date of the 1st of September has been pencilled in. A soft opening may occur a little before the official launch.

The hotel is situated a few metres down Soi 14 off Walking Street.

Anyone who is anyone will be there for the opening night. And anyone who thinks that those attending have no right to be considered as anyone will be taking a keen interest too.

Update: The bar is apparently targeting the Asian coach party trade and shows will be of the darts and whistles variety. The large amount of services staff may be explained by the need to handle sudden influxes of coach loads of customers.

The bar is still very quiet in the early evening hours. Things don't really seem to get very interesting until the soapy stage gets going. The girls there do a grand job entertaining the customers. The girls seem very 'open' to their tipping customers.

The major flaw to operations is probably linked to the size of the venue. There are simply too many places for dancing and not really enough girls to fill the stages (Still plenty of girls though). Last night the girls were on a 8 or 9 song dancing rota. So when the girls says 'I go dance' you know that she will be gone an ludicrously long time.

The bar has plans to replace some of these excess table dancing stages with a 'beach stage' that will capitalise on the popularity of the soapy stage. It is said that it will offer a high degree of interactivity with the girls. Sounds great fun. The new innovation is scheduled for an October opening.

And just to confirm, the bar is definitely not for sale.

It seems that the Broadway Club dancing show bar located just off Walking Street in Soi BJ is no more.

Massively expensive drinks prices, a lack of flesh and no welcome staff in Walking Street quickly put paid to any hope of success.

In fact the bar only survived a month...Next attempt please!

Meanwhile the new Pier Entertainment Complex at the Beach Road end of Walking Street also burst into life. Welcome to Candy Bar, Woogies, & Quorum Bar Beer and Pool.

These bars will be joined by a new GoGo, Highway Star, on 15th August. It looks to be very stylish and inside and is set to be the new home of a bevy of girls previously dancing at Babe Watch and then Champagne.

It is surely an excellent idea to provide bar news via an Internet newsletter. I am sure that this will soon catch on for other bars too. (Provided they have news worth shouting about of course)

We wanted to add a few classic cuts as well so we introduced Flashback, which is 30 minutes of funky songs from the 70s and 80s.

Non Stop Show Stage. This is a new innovation in the bar and is proving very popular. Situated on the top stage by the big screen.

Classroom 2 on soi 2 was sold last week along with Toy Bar opposite on soi 2, these were sold to a wealthy English guy for £200,000 (14 million Baht). He intends to spend another £50,000 doing them up so there will be a few changes there later on.

How it will do is another thing, but Classroom 2 A-GoGo always seems busy even in low season.

For anyone else wanting to buy a GoGo bar, it my be worth inquiring about Super Model A-GoGo. A business for sale listing has a nameless description which almost certainly matches this bar.

Its proximity to so very popular bars surely gives this good potential. It just needs to be enlivened a little.

An update from the owners of The Roof:

There are now one less partners, a new manager, most liquids are 95 baht, lady drinks 110 baht and you're more than welcome to bar fine the dancers (800 baht).

Hope the lower prices and some other changes will make the place more attractive.

Meanwhile the lady drinks at the dance bar, Byblos, (corner of Pratamnak & Soi Diamond) have also been reduced from 150 baht to 120 baht.

Roxy have also shaved a few baht off their prices and a small beer has been reduced from 135 baht to 125 baht.

Hopefully Roxy will also make some changes to try and make their shows a little more sexy. And perhaps even to install some comfortable seating.

The Casino Club dance venue will be holding what they are calling a ‘Coyote Dance Contest' on Sunday night 20 August, starting around 10:00PM. The name of the dance contest, of course, is based around the popular movie Coyote Ugly.

The success of the first Coyotee's Best Ass in Pattaya Contest has prompted the operators of the Soi Marina Plaza establishment to schedule a reprise for Sunday night 27 August. Once again, the starting time will be around 11:00PM, thereby giving the competing dancing damsels time to quaff sufficient quantities of alcoholic ‘courage' and get the ‘atmosphere' in the bar just right.

The owners of Angels have got their eye on buying the next door shop so that they can expand the bar. The 3rd floor is also earmarked for short time rooms.

Meanwhile Llyodie has been outlining his plans for a short time bar in Soi L.K.Metro, right next door to Champagne Agogo:

it will be nicely furnished, sofa, stools so you can choose your seating needs. It will be done out in light coloured floor tiles, mirrors and suspended ceiling with spotlights. Nice clean brand new toilet.

I will have a draught beer at 35bt all day. Brand name doubles bar at a reduced price, it will be for a double and it will be the real thing, no cheap shit put in brand named bottles.

There will be room for rent. Also a short time room as I'm getting some Soi 6 girls/LB's to work so things could get messy.

I popped into Windmill Club last night and can report that the bar seems more or less back to normal after the reported mobile phone tiff. Plenty of pretty girls on stage and a few very happy looking customers being distracted by their chosen hostesses.

As I had a couple of toys from Tuk Com to play with I moved on, but I popped into X-Zone to catch up with one of my girls from the Lady Drinks Blog. The bar was dead. There were no girls on the soap stage, nor the main stage, nor the upstairs stage. There were just 3 on the table dance stages.

Early indications are simply that the girls don't want to work there anymore and haven't returned after payday.

Update: It has been reported on Pattaya Secrets that X-Zone is now up for sale. This rumour was later shown not to be true. Several of the fleeing dancers now make for an extra tier of Angelwitch Rock dancers on the upper floor. However X-Zone have recruited and are back up to strength with 45 dancers.

Angels has opened the second floor bar. I didn't think it was possible to open a bar smaller than the one downstairs, but I was wrong. It's TINY. And to access it you must go to the back, past the toilet, through the kitchen and up the stairs. A second door awaits at the top and then, shoehorned into a barely air conditioned closet, are some very low and un-ergonomic tables and stools crowded so closely together, you can hardly pass. The seating looked uncomfortable but I found (sitting along the wall) that it wasn't too bad.

The walls have been painted black, with florescent stars and moons. Lots of black lights, but overall the lighting is poorly designed (should have been set up to highlight the stage and "shower sink", instead of the dumb disco ball in the middle of the place).

There's a large sink basin that doubles as a shower show stage and another stage at the end. They opened upstairs without enough chrome pole talent and instead had enlisted some roly-poly service staff to dance in braless t-shirts and white mini skirts. A few of these girls had never been dancers and when some relief showed up about 20 minutes later, they made like a bat out of hell for the changing room then head back downstairs.

Then there appeared 5 nekked show girls doing the chrome pole shuffle.  Crowded though, even with only a few customers. After the 5 nude dancers finished, the service girls got on stage. After a few minutes they left and we had a lesbian show. After that they had 3 dancers get on stage naked to do the chrome pole shuffle again

The naked girls dancing were reasonable lookers. One I knew was from Supergirls.

I asked about the 3rd Floor and was told it would be ST rooms.

A new mamasang at New Living Dolls One has been giving her girls a bit of excessive 'yap yap'. Anyone visiting the bar and finding their favourite missing should try Angels A-GoGo. It seems that several of the girls and staff have voted with their feet.

Meanwhile a dispute about a broken mobile phone in the Windmill Club developed into a cat fight that escalated into a bit of a walkout.

Both Windmill and New Living Dolls One rank amongst my favourites but I am not overly worried. Both bars have policies that attract both customers and success. Surely this will also attract the girls back in due course

Following repeated customer complaints, the manager of a Walking Street nightspot asked his DJ to lower the volume. The request was ignored. The manager returned and told the record spinner to tone it down.

This time the DJ said No. The nonplussed manager responded: If you don’t turn the volume down I’ll fire you. To which the DJ responded: If you fire me I will have you killed. Care to guess who won that pissing contest?

I think the free food on Sundays idea is great! Some pints with the lads. A laugh and a joke with them and the girls. Great fun, and if someone feeds you as well....What more can you ask?

The management, very kindly, have employed a really good live band and have kept the drinks prices at the same level. Are we ungrateful enough to say something if wrong? Well just one thing really.

The music volume puts an end to any hope of a conversation. I am sure the band are really good and I enjoyed hearing them play, FROM OUTSIDE SCOOBYS!

There is anything up to 10 of us who "Turn out" on a Sunday. WE like a laugh, a joke and a bit of fun with the girls! If they give us a few snacks in a place---Ex-pat heaven. We tried taking refuge at the very back of the bar only to find some prat had put an even bigger speaker there!

The waitress couldn't hear our beer order the first time. We had a stroke of luck then and the band finished its set, piped pop music at the old Coyote level, great!

Then some total moron turned it up to an even louder volume than the band.

Exit ,stage left, to Scoobys to spend our Baht there and listen to the very good music from the new Jomtien sanctuary of peace.

El Coyotee is a bar , er conversation and a laugh with your mates if you know your market. Not a night club or a go-go bar. Before you ask! Most of the diminishing customers were older than our lot!

Update: An Earful at DK Bar by jj

Jomtien's recently opened DK Bar is a typical indoor beer/ST bar with nothing to distinguish it from the hundreds if other typical indoor beer/ST bars in Pattaya.

Even though I was the only customer, the owner's GF/mamasan refused to turn down the overly loud music so I could have a normal conversation with the ladies.
