Angels has changed again. The stage has been moved from the centre back to the original side. The centre stage idea seemed to have brought some life to the bar but the bar is a little bit too narrow to make it very practical.

I tried the bar during the new afternoon session. There were 3 girls dancing and about the same waiting their turn.

It was a little quiet with 3 customers but no-one in the bar was doing much to make for a sexy stay. I guess there were 3 customers unlikely to make a return visit.

There has been forum comments suggesting that the night time session targets Asian tourists with a show in the upstairs bar. And it must be for tourists as there is an entry charge,

I looked in the revamped Angels last night, I wouldn't have believed they could have done a central stage in such a narrow bar, but there it was. And plenty of customers too.

Londoners who use the tube will understand when I say all they need to do now is rename the bar to Mind the doors!

  Review Aug 2007: More Heavenly

The bar has seen a major redevelopment with the side stage and bench seating being removed and replaced by a central dancing stage with stools down either side. A rather bizarre design as there is practically no room left to walk either side of the stage.

Even more bizarrely it is working, the bar was heaving. There were lots of pretty girls and it was a pleasure just to squeeze by them trying to find a stool.

The girls were dancing 8 at a time on stage with a 4 song roster. The girls were mostly topless.

I have no idea how the bar has become so well inundated with girls...perhaps they have grabbed a few from the temporarily closed Heaven Above.

  Review July 2007: Not So Happy Hour

I visited during happy hour and the bar was very quiet. I was in fact the only customer.

There were bout a dozen girls in the bar of which 4 were dancing. Most of them danced topless.

There were several very pretty girls though but clearly they were too pretty for me and nobody seemed very interested in their customer.

A one drink visit but the girls were pretty enough to consider another visit at a hopefully more lively time.

The bar seems to have dropped the bells and whistles shows and so the Asian tourpartyists have vanaished.

The awkward ascent to the first floor erotic show area proved impractical and it seems to have closed.

The downstairs has now reverted to serving Asian tourists who are treated to the usual non-erotic bells and whistles shows. What is the point of shows that feature totally non sexy activities.

Actually saying that, the place was pretty near full and the tourists seemed to be enjoying themselves. Me...I was out of there as fast as possible.

  From Pattaya Secrets, August 2006: The Ascent of Angels

Angels has opened the second floor bar. I didn't think it was possible to open a bar smaller than the one downstairs, but I was wrong. It's TINY. And to access it you must go to the back, past the toilet, through the kitchen and up the stairs. A second door awaits at the top and then, shoehorned into a barely air conditioned closet, are some very low and un-ergonomic tables and stools crowded so closely together, you can hardly pass. The seating looked uncomfortable but I found (sitting along the wall) that it wasn't too bad.

The walls have been painted black, with florescent stars and moons. Lots of black lights, but overall the lighting is poorly designed (should have been set up to highlight the stage and "shower sink", instead of the dumb disco ball in the middle of the place).

There's a large sink basin that doubles as a shower show stage and another stage at the end. They opened upstairs without enough chrome pole talent and instead had enlisted some roly-poly service staff to dance in braless t-shirts and white mini skirts. A few of these girls had never been dancers and when some relief showed up about 20 minutes later, they made like a bat out of hell for the changing room then head back downstairs.

Then there appeared 5 nekked show girls doing the chrome pole shuffle.  Crowded though, even with only a few customers. After the 5 nude dancers finished, the service girls got on stage. After a few minutes they left and we had a lesbian show. After that they had 3 dancers get on stage naked to do the chrome pole shuffle again

The naked girls dancing were reasonable lookers. One I knew was from Supergirls.

I asked about the 3rd Floor and was told it would be ST rooms.

  Review by Kerry, July 2006: Lofty Ambitions

Angels A-Go-Go, formerly known as the Circus, opened it's doors to the public on 19 July 06. Located on Walking Street across from the Living Dolls Showcase, it is owned/managed by former New Living Dolls staff.

Although there are plans to use 4 floors of the building, only the bottom floor was used for the grand opening. A "shop-house" a-go-go, it is very narrow inside. Dancers are aligned along the right wall as you enter, with padded couch seating along the left wall. A couple of high tables with poles and dancers are also spotted along the left side.

As can be expected it is very cramped, even with only 20 or so customers. The lone bathroom is located at the back of the club, passed the bar, under the stairs. As it is the only facility for all the customers and staff, expect it to be busy. If you need to use the toilet, remember to duck your head when you stand up or you will brain yourself on the underside of the stairwell.

As mentioned, there are plans to use the upper 3 floors as well. No sure how successful that will be, as anyone wanting to go upstairs will have to push their way to the back of the first floor, then hike up the stairs to the upper levels. Maybe if they offered cheaper drinks the higher up you go?

Speaking of which, regular mixed drinks go for 140 baht. Bar fines are 550 baht for dancers and 600 baht for showgirls. Never stuck around to see what "shows" they had to offer though.

  Review by Don, Feb 2008: Quick Quick

I've had a couple of bad experiences at Angelwitch.

First was in September when I ordered a coke, which was about the price of a beer, and was hustled out of the bar by the waitresses for not ordering another quickly enough. I though this may have been because of my choice of beverage and that I’d be given more time with a beer.

The experience was enough to keep me away from the place until last night, when my date asked if we could return. Unarguably they have a great show and their fill dancers between the shows are very attractive now – as they tended to be drab in the past.

But drinks are very expensive, and the waitresses were hovering as we watched the show. I believe the couple next to us were harassed out of the bar, but I kept a firm hand on my beer throughout to avoid waitresses picking up the bottle – this didn’t stop one waitress from getting up on her toes & peering in to it. Finally, although neither of us had finished our drinks, we were told we had to reorder for the new show or go. So we chugged our drinks in anger and left. We never did see a full show and I expect the time we were allowed with our drinks was about 20 minutes.

I do not come to Thailand to be angered, but these guys succeeded twice in 2 short visits. I’d recommend to all others to stay away unless they enjoy being treated like crap.

Got in at 11.20 pm just before a round of shows started. The place was crowded. I saw a lot of gents with their Thai girlfriends that came to watch the show.

The dancing girls are an above average friendly bunch. Same for the service girls. The girls dance half topless.

Called in a very cute dancing lady (barfine 600 Baht) to watch the show with me. The show is stunning. No doubt the best show of all gogos in Pattaya. Even a python was involved. A show that everyone should see.

Being the place so full I was wondering what its like in high season. I suppose there will be queues all the way up to Walking Street

The seating could be more comfortable. There are many girls to chose from at 8:00. Sometimes the better ones go quickly. I like the shows and rock music that start at about 10:00.

Mamasans and girls can be a little pushy for drinks and bar fines. Just say no thank you and take your time deciding if you want to offer a girl a drink. No problem.

  News from Stickman Oct 2006: No Sitting Allowed

One of the Thai managers of Angelwitch Pattaya has implemented an odd rule whereby service girls are not allowed to sit down at all. Ordinarily the they would sit down for a few minutes now and then - and of course they are often invited to sit down with customers who may buy them a drink so denying them to get off their feet for a short period seems unreasonably harsh.

[I for one would get very pissed off if I buy a drink for a service girl and then she doesn't sit with me (when not busy) to drink it]

  Review Asia Bugle August 2006: World Class

The show at Angelwitch has every element: it is interesting, well choreographed, atmospheric, sexy and well produced!

The place has come on in leaps and bounds, where a few months ago it was well getting on a par with Angelwitch in Bangkok , now by using the full potential of the area, particularly its height, it has ascended to a totally different level.

If Angelwitch stays like this and keeps evolving there will be queues down the street in high season. In my mind it compares more than favourably to the Crazy Horse, without the latter's formality. This casualness is created by the friendly nature of the dancers. In the Crazy Horse you do not get a dancer plonking herself down next to you looking hopefully for a drink!

Having read other reviews about Baby Dolls my wife and I thought we’d have to check it out.

The other reviews were spot on for the liveliness, lots of nakedness, interactivity and downright good fun.

The only place we stayed for more than one drink.
The only place that we ST’d a girl.
The only place that we could say we were welcomed and looked after by the mamasan, service girls and dancers.
The only place we felt they wanted us to be there, and to stay.
The only place where the smile was the norm, and not the exception.

Coupled with reasonably priced beer and happy hour until 10pm, we gave this place top marks and first on the list when we visit Pattaya again.

Baby Dolls is hands down the best GoGo in Pattaya right now. Full nudity seems to be encouraged, perhaps possible because of the off-Walking Street location. 'Anything goes' at this place. Non-stop shower/hot tub and separate bed (pad) show is really hot. Up close seats, and girls happy to have you help with baby oil, soap, nipple caressing, etc.

This place is a really great time. MamaSang is top notch, happy to buy you a drink if you have bought plenty yourself and she will IMMEDIATELY correct any problem and make it right. For instance one shy show girl wasn't giving a good performance so MamaSang yelled at her to get wet and encouraged a customer to rub her entire body down with soap.

At the moment Baby Dolls is totally rocking. Loads of girls, with a lot of nudity and naughtiness.

The customer base has picked up too. Up till now its been Pattaya's hidden gem. I guess I'll have to share it with others now.

  News July 2007 Renovation

The bar has now re-opened after substantial renovation. The bar is now nicely kitted out in the style of Windmill and Sakura Club 69 only in a large blue variant.

There is now a central stage surround by stools. Comfortable seating is arranged down the walls with small table dancing platforms just in front. There is a side stage featuring a continuous lesbian show and there is also a continuous Jacuzzi show.

All the elements are in place, so the bar just need to rope in a few more girls and a few more customers.

  News June 2007: Fatties

A new mamasang has been appointed at the bar. Her first act was to fire all the girls (dancers and service girls) she considered as 'fatties'. Surely annoying as the cull included one of my long time friends. Hardly a way to endear regular customers.

  Review April 2008: Watching

The bar always seems popular. There are plenty of pretty girls who dance on a pretty long circuit. Most girls are knickerless under skirts with open blouse. Some wear more and some wear less.

A few customers were being looked after by the girls, but mostly this seems to be  bar for watching rather than interacting.

Small beer glasses mean that the 55 Baht draft price tag is not quite the bargain it appears. But nothing to complain about.

Tips are the usual order of the day to get a closer look at the dancer. But saying that I didn't spot too many customers with a fistful of 20's to give out.

Always good to see a popular but I left it for those that were enjoying and moved on to a more interactive bar.

When I entered at 1am, I found myself in the middle of a party. There were lots of girls most of them average but a few pretty ones also. They are all topless with skirts with nothing underneath. Some dance naked.

Got into a talk with one of the more beautiful and energetic girls and apparently one of the popular girls.

The more beautiful girls can make more money on tips, lady drinks and ST than LT so that is not a popular option. It's all about money.

  Review, Feb 2007: Legs all the way to the Ceiling

The second dancer on the circuit to entertain at my table was a beauty. She was incredibly long legged and had the flattest tummy I have seen for a while.

All I could dream about was that she could dance at an altitude where I could smile and make eye contact. Unfortunately it was simply too uncomfortable on the neck to do more than glance at her dancing way above my head so I sat back and watched the dancers on distant tables instead.

Scanning the rest of the bar, there was one guy having a lot of close up and personal fun with one of the girls. But my beauty had just started on what looks like a very long dance circuit. My dreamworld, long legged, potential partner for the evening would surely age another day before being able to get back to my side.

So I surveyed the scene for a while revealing plenty of good looking girls many of whom were dancing topless. There was an all male service staff and a whole host of hostesses doing nothing but occupy seats.

Good to see many pretty girls but I do prefer to view girls at eye level so I quickly moved on to a less lofty venue.

  Review from Asia Bugle, August 2006: Busy But Why?

I found nothing very exciting. What I do not understand is why it stays busy as it really offers very little, when you look at what's available elsewhere. But another owner may have hit the proverbial nail on the head when he said ‘look what everybody is drinking.' Their drinking small draft beers, which are cheap, implying that this is the home of the cheap Charlies. Possibly but I saw no other useful attribute.

Personally I find the place overcrowded and a little in your face for my own tastes, on this occasion there was nothing dancing on the podiums that took my fancy, however, and this has always been true, the hostesses in the place can turn your head, and sure enough it wasn’t long before a couple of good looking ones approached us.

  Review from Pattaya Secrets, March 2006: Give Me My Tip Now

Many of the girls are not interested in accepting Barfines as they can make significant sums of money in tips for doing little more than dancing. If they are interested in accepting a Barfine, their perceived "loss of earnings" will be reflected in their initial "asking price".

When I was last dragged into the Beach Club there was a group of 4 Thai Guys clutching wads of 20, 50 and 100 Baht notes which they were regularly depositing on the girls. Despite the place being busy, the girls were not at all interested in other Customers, only in ensuring that they extracted as much as possible from these Thai Guys.

This club was the one that started the entire table dancing craze/infection/plague in Pattaya. It was fun when it first opened because the girls were thrilled to be getting tips and were actually putting on some great individual performances to get them.

Then their attitude quickly changed from "This is fun, I just got a tip!" to "Give me my tip now, you jerk!" even as their efforts to earn those tips became nothing more than squatting down with an extended hand to receive the money. I'm happy to tip a 20 if the girls are trying to make an effort to entertain me. Otherwise they don't deserve any tip at all for simply shuffling listlessly around a chrome pole.

  Review May 2008: Plenty on Show

I have read a few good write ups of Beavers of late saying that there surely are some naughty girls in attendance.

I have always been a bit sceptical though as I have missed out on the fun in several visits and not even seen much naughty stuff going down with other customers.

But a recent visit pleasantly confirmed some of the rumours.  I was well looked after by a very friendly and hands on girl.

Not quite an ideal bar though, as there are a few fundamental flaws. Firstly the bar is too small for any comfortable seating. Secondly the dancing stint is too long, and when your lady go dance, it is a cue to move on to the next bar. Thirdly I am simply not keen on table dancing. It gives me a crick in the neck and I find it somewhat undignified to stare up at a girl.

Update:

It has been pointed out to me that maybe I should have cast my gaze downwards. I would then have spotted the mirrored tables and perhaps also the inspiration for the name of the bar.

  Review Aug 2007: Cramped

The opens earlier than the 8pm norm so can be quite useful if waiting for 8pm.

It always seems hard to run a small gogo as there is not much flexibility should a lot of girls get bar fined. I have been in a couple of times when the remaining girls are near continuously dancing.

The bar gets a little cramped if there are a lot of customers as all the tables seem just a little to close to each other for the amount of stools dotted around.

Long dancing stints and small glasses of beer are other faults of the bar.

On the positive side there are several colourful characters on the staff and I have seem a few customers get some good personal attention. I've never been one of the lucky few though.

  Review Jan 2007: Not my Scene

The bar seems to get hardly a mention in Pattaya forums these days so it was surely time to stop by and have a look.

It always seems better that people who appreciate a particular type of entertainment should be the ones who review it, so please excuse the lack of appreciation for neck craning fun. Judging by the number of table dancing stages in Pattaya, others surely enjoy it more than I.

Also customers who like their beer in very small glasses perhaps would be more inclined to award higher marks for the bar.

People blessed with the patience of a saint would surely appreciate the very long dancing roster for the girls. The girls dance 2 songs at each table and there were 4 tables in the circuit.

Also the bar seems to be targeted at customers who prefer to watch rather than chat. The bar seems to have few girls available to circulate for a chat.

  Review July 2006: Gnawing Away at Viability

Made a 10:30pm visit and the bar had almost finished for the night. There were only enough girls for dancing duty and there were simply none left to act as hostesses.

Perhaps this was due to good success earlier in the evening as there seemed to be a fair few plain clothes girls doing very little.

A brief visit indeed as I scooted off elsewhere in my never ending quest to compile a census of where all Pattaya girls originate from.

  Review June 2006: Dance Marathon

The bar has about half a dozen tables with a girl dancing on each one. The girls would show off their wears for a 20 baht tip but the tables are very high and it is all a bit uncomfortable on the neck and lacking in decorum to partake.

I much prefer my tipping to be directed at girls on my level and within my grasp. I found a pleasant girl here more than happy to oblige. All would have been set for a fair few drinks but when my girl 'go dance', I noticed that the girls dance 2 songs on each table making for about a dozen long songs.

A bird in the hand is worth two on a dance marathon, so I went to find my next bird in the next bar. It was a pleasant enough bar though.

  Review January 2006: In Your Face

I made Beavers my first port of call and found it to be a fun place. The girls dance on the mirrored tables that you sit at without knickers on and the reflection is excellent, not to mention the fact that if you offer to attach a 20bt tip to the top of their stockings, the view as they squat to accept the tip is really in your face. I also found the 45bt Heineken draft to be easy on the wallet and as I ventured further into the street found this to be a common offer to entice patrons, which made it really cheap to check out the various venues and have a couple of beers in each place. I didn't find the girls in Beavers to be too pushy and quite enjoyed the experience, even though I didn't find anything to take my fancy.

  Review from Pattaya Secrets, June 2008: Bye Bye Byblos

It seems that the bar hasn't proved a long term hit with Pattaya farangs and the bar is now targeting customers using touts on 2nd Road. This tends to attract a more Middle Eastern/South Asian customer base than the Walking Street norm.

The bar has also opted for bells and whistles shows

And just to complete the transformation to inanity, the draft beer is now set at 90 Baht and bottled beer is 140 Baht.

Bye Bye Byblos

  Review Jan 2007: Pulling My Leg

I was perusing the Pattaya forums and one particular bar put down caught my eye. The wordsmith referred to the girls of Byblos A-GoGo as 'tractor pullers'.

Somehow the phrase struck home as an almost poetic insult. I was well impressed. But I also feel it is a little uncalled for.

Byblos is maybe a little too small to make much impact, but they have some very friendly girls and staff. I have had a couple of very pleasant visits indeed.

The girls that I have met at Byblos have previously been at Windmill and Baby Dolls, so surely a good pedigree.

I don't know about pulling tractors though. I think someone is pulling my plonker. And the girls of Byblos are very much better at it than any old Pattaya forum poster.

  Review Oct 2007: Going Up

The latest addition to Pattaya's gogos may be found upstairs at Byblos Club on Soi Diamond.

It is a small bar but it is attractively decorated with stylish lighting. There is comfortable seating and central elevated walkway acting as a stage.

There were 3 or 4 girls dancing and another half dozen available to entertain customers. Some girls were topless and some were wearing a substantial top as if for a cabaret show. The girls didn't really stand out but it always takes time and success for a bar to snag the good lookers.

There is also a show but my visit was too early to catch it.

The drinks prices were very reasonable and there's a happy hour. The service girls were familiar as they were a couple of fun girls previously working at Windmill.

There seems no reason why the bar shouldn't find a niche but there is always the obstacle of the stairs that tends to prove a problem for bars.

  Review Nov 2007: Small Glasses

A brief visit to check out any changes brought about by a new manager. I detected that the dancing girls may have become a little more animated than usual.

But the only real change I noted, was that draft beer had increased in price from 65 Baht to 75 Baht. This actually makes for a very expensive beer as the glasses are very small.

This puts the bar in the top ten in Pattaya in terms of expensive beer but it certainly isn't top ten material in terms of shows, girls or sexiness. It is a middling bar, living on past glories and is simply poor value when charging premium prices.

But that does not mean you won't find an attractive girl here, there are a few around the bar. The dancing girls operate in two teams with maybe 8 on the stage at one time. The dancing is punctuated by pleasantly erotic shows.

Minor gripes are the male service staff and the lack of comfortable seating being exasperated by the resting girls claiming a lot of it.

  Review March 2007: Getting Old

Maybe there was a good explanation but the girls were all dancing in bikinis. Wasn't really particularly entertaining and there weren't many girls circulating the bar for a chat.

Whilst drinking my rather small draft beer I noticed one girl who I knew from a while ago. She had aged rather obviously and was still dancing on the same stage in the same bar with the same lacklustre shuffle. She rather characterises the whole Carousel GoGo.

  Review September 2006: Spinning on the Spot

Nobody has mentioned much about the bar for a while so I stopped by. Nothing much has changed in the bar for a while.

There were a dozen girls dancing on the rotating stage. There seems to be two shifts of dancing so presumably there are about 24 girls total. There were many attractive girls so no problem there, a few of them elect to dance topless.

Somehow not really much going on, no naughty corners, showers, jacuzzis, up close interaction, naked dancing etc. A perfectly adequate bar but it is not really keeping up with the competition. Pattaya is a competitive place and innovation and/or naughtiness is now very important. I have a feeling that this bar is drifting down the league merely because it is standing still.

Carousel was looking good with numerous shapely and friendly maidens cavorting about. Like Heavens Above, this is another bar that dipped after TJ left for other ventures ventures ... and then came roaring back with a vengeance. Lots of great eye candy here and some decent shows too from what I can remember.

  Review, Jan 2007: Welcome...

Casnovy A-GoGo is pulling out all the stops to welcome customers to the bar. Patrons are greeted by an avenue of red gowned lovelies all programmed to say a few words of welcome.

The cheery doorman is equally welcoming as he passes you on to the gracious service staff who see you to your seat. Orders are then taken efficiently and promptly.

But having received your drink then you are on your own... literally! All the spare dancing girls were huddled in the corner whilst the customers were sitting on their lonesome.

Not a big issue, sometimes things click, and sometimes they don't. On this occasion the spare girls were hiding and the dancing girls weren't catching the eye.

So after downing the drink I decided to make a rapid departure.

Suddenly the staff return to hospitality mode. In the space of the short walk to the door, I was sought out by 2 mamasangs wishing me well. The door man was equally effusive with his thanks and the gauntlet of girls in red all chimed in with a friendly wave good bye.

The best welcome in Walking street and the most heartfelt good byes, but so little effort to provide reasons to stay.

They have turned the music volume down a bit though. The bar is surely worth another visit

I popped in to Casnovy (stupid name!), and it was not at all bad. Some lookers, and a lot knickerless and topless dancing.

Looks a lot like the Beach Club, but with a central stage as well. But as others have noted the music was LOUD. Won't be a regular hang-out for me, but will go once in a while.

  Review Oct 2007: Loud Table Dancing

A large new table dancing gogo has been built on Walking Street next door to Voodoo.

A first glance revealed that the bar was well packed with people, but the second glance revealed that they were mostly staff. The bar have really gone to town with the number of dancing girls and service staff that they have hired.

There were about 12 girls dancing at any one time. There are 3 rows of tables with 4 dancing positions on each row. (Plenty more space for even more dancers if required).

The dress code was bikini top, short flimsy skirt and knickers. As is often the case on opening, the bar isn't in serious competition with the likes of Peppermint for its girls. But there were several very pretty girls amongst the crowd.

The biggest defining characteristic of the bar is the music. It is very loud and very dance. It surely sets your seat vibrating.

The beer price was set at a sensible 50 Baht and the owners are well established notable for the Blue Sky Bars on Walking Street. It should be interesting to see if loud table dancing will find a niche in Walking Street.

I had a closer look on my way past last night and the best guess I can come up with is that it's a ladyboy club with a couple of girl decoys, which I couldn't begin to explain. Perhaps its for comparison purposes?

They are definitely mostly ladyboys but at least a couple of the talent must be girls, they're just too short and ordinary looking to be boys.

  Review by Ray, March 2008: Once is Enough

Catz is a well presented bar at the smaller end of the scale although not as small as some. It is set out as a classic "shoebox" go-go with comfortable bench seating down both sides and a narrow island stage in the middle. The bench on the right is sub-divided into three booths but they are too large to be considered private having two tables each.

There are about fifteen average girls, a couple eye-catching, a couple less so. The dance roster is one-on one-off with over half the girls on stage at a time. There are no shows.

My first visit was initially off-putting, the girls weren't showing at all and they all seemed to be wearing Morality Ministry issue customerproof knickers. However the girl that volunteered to take care of me was willing to show me anything I liked once the ladydrink was ordered so the on-stage modesty was probably just because the police were on the prowl.

My second visit went completely the other way. This time the girls were showing and the customerproof knickers were gone but so, apparently, was the warm welcome. I bought a girl a ladydrink but when the girl I had spoken to previously came off stage and came over, the first girl just walked off. The girl who had entertained me before knocked back a couple of ladydrinks and went back on stage without making much of an effort, and I got the distinct impression I wasn't supposed to come back.

I could have just been unlucky in my choice of girls but they didn't seem to want to entertain or be bar-fined, although they were happy to take the ladydrinks. I felt my money was welcome but I wasn't. Tellingly, on neither visit did the bar have more than a handful of customers, none of whom were being particularly well entertained.

One visit to Catz is quite enough.

Went in 10pm on Friday evening. Appeared to be the only customer. I was immediately attacked by 2 girls that weren't my choice. I politely send them away, no problem.

There were about 16 average girls on duty, 2 of them a bit more pretty. Some of the girls were topless.

I called one of the more pretty girls over but she hardly spoke any English. So I sat there a boring 10 minutes before the girl had to go to dance.

Time for me to check bin and leave. Bin was 185 Baht for a bottle of Heineken and a lady drink.

Hope times get better for the bar and this night was only an incident.

  Review Sep 2007: Capacity Challenged

Catz must surely be the best of the smaller gogo bars in Pattaya. Small bars generally have a troubled time as it doesn't take many customers for the bar to be too full (not enough girls to go around). Conversely when a few customers depart then the bar seems a bit empty and dead. Similarly if several girls are barfined then there are quickly too few to effectively staff the bar.

I have been a regular visitor of late but most of the time the bar has been been a little too quiet and I have only stayed for a single beer. The girls don't seem so interested in having a chat  and this seems to leave customers looking bored.

The police crackdown probably hits smaller bars hard. Larger bars can entertain with plenty of different things going on providing lots of distraction. Smaller bars have little left but bikini clad shuffling.

Catz needs to realise that their visual entertainment is not what is was. Perhaps an alternative entertainment is to ensure that customers have a girl on their lap or at least have a girl to chat to.

  Review March 2007: Constant

Catz scores consistently good marks for the attractive bar and attractive girls. There are enough girls to ensure that company is readily available if required.

The shows are sexy enough but maybe not quite keeping up with some of the naughtiness going down in other bars.

I have rarely seen the bar crowded though which I put down to the oldie farang friendly music. The music may be appreciated by the customers but it discourages the girls from generating a high energy atmosphere as they simply do not get enthused by rock.

Still I am happy for the bar to stay as it is

The look and feel of Catz is spot on and has been praised many times. Somehow the frequent praise for the bar has not actually transformed it into an overly crowded bar.

I have visited quite frequently of late and there is always a seat and I can pretty much guarantee that at least one of my friendly girls is available for a chat. The girls seem happy to get up close and personal too.

There are plenty of pretty girls, but if you also like to have a chat with the owners and managers, then there is always someone around.

I have heard excellent reports of late, and sure enough we were not disappointed, again a full house, but comfortable so, as the place is more compact than it’s neighbour, and the quality of the girls was spot on, my ‘old friend’ came over in the pursuit of a lady drink, but I ushered her away and requested two pretty young things to join us, within a minute two real beauties came sashaying over, one a sort of full on, drop dead gorgeous, sexy Thai version of ‘oops I did it again’ era Britney Spears resplendent on full schoolgirl attire complete with pigtails, under normal circumstances I would have grabbed her within a nanosecond, but being a gentlemen, and being my friends first visit, I passed her up and settled for the other one, when I say settled, I must add that she was also a beauty, with a more smoldering, dusky appeal to her, hard to choose really, now once again, why is it I love this place? Top marks for the management, the uniforms were more varied than my first visit, but a better than average number of beautiful girls.

  Review June 2008: Still Cheap Beer

The bar often seems to have more custom than I would have predicted from the entertainment on offer.

It is quite a large bar to just rely on basic gogo dancing. There are no shows, Jacuzzis, soft stages or anything of the like.

The girls are generally on the mature side, but this is not a dictate, just the average. There are still a few girls that are easy on the eye.

Of course the very cheap draft beer must help a bit in getting customers through the door. Also a large proportion of the dancers are naked, which helps too.

Although the bar is Thai owned, there is no undue hassle from either the girls or staff.

In fact it is quite a pleasant bar to have a quick drink in. It could be rather a good bar if they could only attract a few more young ladies. (And maybe improve the loo too).

  Review Nov 2007: Cheap Beer

The bar has never recovered from the facelift a year ago. The rather dingy back area used to be a haven for the touchy feely stuff but this has now been replaced by a second dancing stage.

The old petting area used to be fun and one would forgive the fact that the dancing crew are a little beyond their sell by date.

But now the bar struggles basically because it retains the below average line up of girls but has not retained the fun.

Otherwise there does not seem much wrong with bar. There is farang friendly rock music, girls that dance in birthday suits and the cheapest draft in Walking Street (40 Baht for a decent sized glass).

But they really really really need to get a few more attractive girls on stage.

  News from Ray July 2007: Sobriety

Champion only gives the girls a 40 Baht kickback on lady drinks if they order Coke, they get nothing for a tequila shot. A bit hard on the girls who need a couple of shots to get going. Perhaps Champion prefers its girls stone cold sober rather than mou nit noi.

  Review April 2007: Dance Marathon

The venue is a long thin central stage with about a dozen dancers on the go at any one time. The venue is notable for its game veterans but there are usually a few pretty girls amongst the dancers. The dancers where less clothes than most bars too.

The very long dancing stint though tends make it impractical to drink for long with a lady before she goes on her marathon dance.

I have spent a couple of good sessions in the past by drinking with 2 ladies, such that there is always one by your side.

I rarely visit anymore though, the veterans I have sat with in the past, never leave, and never forget. And so I get mobbed by oldies as soon as I walk through the door.

The music is staunchly rock which appeals to many customers but never particularly animates the girls.

  News from Pattaya Secrets, Sept 2006: Same Same

If you hadn't been there for a while and went back, I would be very surprised if you realised that it had been closed for re-decoration. Perhaps they have repainted everything in the same matt black paint.

I think that the bar has been replaced though. The only very  obvious changes are that the dancing area in the middle has been made narrower and the TV showing porn isn't there any more.

The back stage has been enlarged and turned around. Unfortunately this has meant the loss of some prime diddling seats.

Plenty of pretty girls have been recruited but most of the old regulars remain.

  Review by Ray, March 2007: GoGo US Style

Three Baby Dolls have moved to this bar and I popped in to see how they were doing. I'd never been in here before and found it perfectly OK. However, I was being taken care of by girls I already knew, so on my second visit I tried to look at the bar more objectively.

The first thing I noticed was that most customers were sitting in groups chatting to each other and I started to get a TQ2 vibe. The girls confirmed to me that there was little hands-on going on because the customers didn't want it, not because the girls didn't, and that lady drinks were hard to come by.

The mother of all jacuzzis is a also bit of a disappointment, being set low in the floor right at the back of the bar, and as the doormen will inevitably show you to a stool at the front you could visit the bar several times and not realise it was there.

The stage is unusually large, having eleven poles in 3-2-4-2 formation. I found myself thinking of them as defenders, midfield, front line and wingers. On several occasions the poles were not all occupied. There is a glass floor above the stage and occasionally a couple of girls would go up there and lark about.

The girls are a pretty ordinary bunch, a few outstanding but mostly pretty average. On my first visit three or four girls were dancing naked, on my second they were all bikinied up. I heard a rumour in the previous bar I visited that the police were on the prowl and maybe that was why, but on neither visit did the bar look remotely like the photo on the web site.

With its average girls, mostly voyeuristic customers and superfluous "security", Club Boesche is what a Walking Street go-go would look like if you transplanted it to the US.

  Review by Serigala, Jan 2007: Lack of Interaction

My wife and I went here on the recommendation of a couple friends of ours. They maintained that it was “their favourite place” and had short timed a jacuzzi girl.

We were ushered in and, as has been mentioned by others before, directed straight to the jacuzzi area where we were seated at bar stools. Jacuzzi was occupied by three girls, one of which was reasonable. Occasional licking took place but always the same licker and lickee. The third girl needn’t have been there. We quickly got bored and turned our attention to the stage. Around ten girls shuffling about the poles with a total lack of enthusiasm. Clothing was bikinis, skirt and top or shorts and top.

One girl did actually decide to get a bit lively and dance. However, as she couldn’t take her eyes off the mirror, we assumed it was only for her own benefit.

As others have reported, there seems to be a total lack of interaction here and, apart from a smile from a service girl, we’re sure that the girls here wouldn’t have noticed whether there were customers present or not.

Considering our poor appraisal of Boesche, others seemed to be happy with the offerings as the place was quite crowded.

One expensive drink and left.

  Review July 2007: Horses for Courses

The bar is clearly very popular and continues to feature at the top of forum polls and reviews.

However the bar hasn't hit it off with me in several visits. All I seem to do is to buy a relatively expensive beer and sit and watch slightly above average dancing girls for as long as the single beer lasts. The girls rarely seem to make contact either by smiles or even trying their luck with a "where you come from".

In fact there were a fair few hostesses sitting around looking expectant and yet not making any effort whatsoever to circulate. It is as if they are waiting for a starting gun at which point they will launch into action.

There are about 8 dancers on stage mostly opting to wear bikinis. Of these there always seems to be a couple with a little more character who do a good job of captivating the attention by putting effort into their dancing. I guess that customers managing to hook some of these girls may look forward to a lively evening.

The bar plays fairly loud dance music. A younger friend complained that they play the dance music equivalent of The Birdy Song.

  Review from jj, Nov 2006: A Big Boo for Boesché

Having made a choice of companions early in the evening, I gave in to her request to visit Club Boesché. Like Sybil of movie fame, Club Boesché seems to be a bar of multiple personalities that can’t seem to figure out what it wants to be. It is trying to be all things to all people and gets it all terribly wrong!

Club Boesché is a fine place to take a lady, but a horrible place to meet one.

The first thing I noted was that there was not one punter sitting with a lady that he did not bring into the bar.

Second, I was stuck by the huge number of service personnel. I’ve never seen a bar in Thailand that felt the need to employ a half-dozen burly Thai men as bouncers. Yet this place was packed. Were they all, like me, first timers who would never think about returning? What is the attraction of this place? Certainly not the "entertainment". Here is where the multiple personality disorder is manifest.

In a tribute to gogo-ing of a bygone era, there were actually three cage dancers. These ladies were dressed as hostesses in short gowns. Knickerless? Possible, I never got close enough to see. As described in prior reviews, the very large stage was populated by 5-7 bikinied dancers doing extremely long sets. I lost count after 10+ songs. One reason why no ladies were sitting with a customer is that they fall from the stage exhausted and race to the dressing room for a pee and well-deserved rest before taking their place at the pole for another marathon stint.

Somewhere between the hostess dress and the bikinis were two ladies in coyote-wear who shed parts of that costume as their 10 songs played thru. All of this, however, was but a mere distraction. Half the patrons weren’t even aware it was taking place.

The real happening was at the back of the bar where the two ladies in the jacuzzi were exploring each other’s orifices. The service ladies and bouncers were escorting newly arrived punters directly to the rear of the premises where all the patrons were sitting with their backs to the rest of the goings on concentrating their attention on the two superstars. The rest of the "entertainment" was completely superfluous. Perhaps this place should remodel in a jacuzzi-only bar and settle the issue once and for all.

For the life of me, I can’t see what the attraction is. Yet, reportedly this place is packed by 9PM. I just know that I won’t be one of those being packed in there again.

Oh yeah, the music was just loud enough to preclude any meaningful conversation and 90% of the seating is bar stools. This place also goes a long way to disproving the theory that Walking Street girls are prettier. I don’t even want to know why they feel that they need six male weightlifters as bouncers.

  News from Pattaya Today Sept 2006: Bigger Boesché

Club Boesché has recently installed a large plasma TV screen in the upstairs section so that customers could watch the water antics of the girls frolicking about in the downstairs Jacuzzi.

There are serious plans afoot to further expand the gogo with a series of showpiece areas, including a VIP room.

Building work is set to commence very soon with the aim of being open by the next high season.

  Review from Yellow Board, July 2006: No Low Season at Boesché

I find that it is always packed if I arrive after 10pm and often before. I do not like the place when it is so crowded you have to push your way to the bathroom. I also do not like the attitude and actions of the too many Thai male staff that constantly try to put you where they want you to be. These guys exist both inside and outside the place in fairly large numbers and just do not need to be there at all.

Nevertheless, the music is good and usually not too loud and the aircon works fine considering the large crowds. The downstairs 20' x 30' (approx) stage is routinely filled with three rows of bikini clad dancers x four across, plus two on the front corners. Those on the corner are frequently confused about whether they are in a gogo or a nudist camp.

Above, on the plexi-glass second level are from two to four more dancers who tend to be very naughty in a delightful way. This group is either nude or covered in soap suds depending upon the time and provide a different perspective for the wannabe gynecologists that abound around here.

Of course the sunken jacuzzi at the rear of the venue is still populated by one to three damsels who always seem to be licking the soap bubbles off the groin areas (and below) of their lovely sisters of the suds.

All in all it is a fun place. The voyeur quality of the ladies is above average. No cellulite visible anywhere that I looked. There is not a lot of 'lady drink' pressure but it is there for those who like to be generous. Politely say no and you will be left alone. Drink prices are higher a bit than most places. Frequented most I think by a large number of local expats and their visiting buddies, there does not seem to be a low season there.

  Review May 2008: Looks Good

Popped in for an early look see and the new bar surely looks good.

The outside neon is surely the most impressive in Pattaya.

There is a central stage with half a dozen girls fully covered in a white lacy affair.

There are another half dozen girls on table dancing stages arranged just in front of the comfortable bench seating. The girls were topless but strangely with a blouse at half mast. Perhaps at the ready for a quick panic.

There is an upper floor with accessed by a scary looking spiral staircase. The girls dance nude up top and are viewable from downstairs.

There were plenty of girls in attendance and an old friend looked after me well.

The drinks prices are comparable with other popular bars but the draft beer wasn't in a particularly large glass for the price.

The music is aimed at the dancing girls rather than oldie farangs. Perhaps a bit loud, but not quite the loudest.

I found a couple of teething problems in terms of the arrangement of the dancing girls. Sitting downstairs, the upstairs girls are simply too far above to be particularly worth a cricked neck for. The lighting, although effective, makes it difficult to watch the table dancers, its either too dark, or else one gets a bit dazzled. And the girls on the central stage are simply overdressed. Perhaps the trick is to sit upstairs...but I don't know if I would trust myself to get drunk upstairs, what with having to negotiate the stairs on the way down.

  Review from Pattaya Addicts, Jan 2008: High Barfines Season

The bar became very mercenary about barfines during the high season and maintained these rates for several weeks. Even after the end of the silly period, rates are sometimes quoted at the premium rates should the bar start to lack girls.

Almost every dancer in the place is a 'showgirl' when it comes time for a barfine. And avoid the ST room like the plague: Lousy AC, non-working jacuzzi, very hard bed-like plywood-and they knock down the door at exactly one hour. Very greedy management.

  Review, Nov 2007: Dropping off the Radar

Coyotee's seems to be dropping off the Walking Street radar of late. Apart from the popular dance contests, the bar seems to get little comment on the Pattaya forums.

The bar focuses very much on their shows and showgirls. The shows feature pretty girls being revealing and erotic. They are not the choreographed shows of Angelwitch or Roxy but can still be entertaining. Perhaps those that like naughty fare probably get a better close up view of the action at What's Up, Baby Dolls, Windmill etc.

The show girls are notably picky about chatting to customers which rather disappoints some of the customers.

The supporting gogo dancers are a mixed bunch with some of them dancing naked and others in skirts and tops with bras underneath.

The last time I dropped by the draft beer was delivered in such a tiny glass that, pint for pint, this bar is one of the most expensive in Walking Street.

For me this all adds up to a very occasional visit.

  Review, Feb 2007: Frumpy

There was a recent poll on one of the forums asking what are the most important factors that make up a good bar. My answer was of course friendly girls. And it is on this point that I have rarely enjoyed my recent visits to Coyotee's. No one has asked me where I come from for several visits now.

So why go you wonder?...well for a while the bar used make up for the lack of interaction by having very pretty showgirls doing pretty erotic shows. The trouble is that there are now many other bars that do equally erotic shows and yet the girls are friendly there too.

The bar operates two shifts, show girls entertain for a few tracks and then alternate with gogo dancers. And some of the basic gogo dancers are downright frumpy, I spotted several who choose to wear bras under their boob tube tops. Talk of over dressed. There are girls dancing naked though, so I guess this is down to the girls rather than bar policy.

There was a period when I had a great couple of visits and that was when Stickman pulled up the girls for their 'my shit doesn't stink' attitude. Clearly this caused the management to give the dancers a bit of a pep talk and for a while it worked.

But slipping back now though.

  Review from Pattaya Secrets, June 2006: Ask and All Will be Delivered

After 10pm once the show have started it really gets going. There are a lot of good looking girls, many naked and not shy about flaunting their bits.. I'd say the places biggest problem is the venue itself. The size, white colour and highish ceilings make it hard to create a 'good atmosphere' Luckily the nudity tends to distract you from the decor..

On previous nights I had thought that the girls were a little ''offish'' especially the ''showgirls'' who seemed to be in hiding when not on stage.. However I have been there twice this week and decided to change tactics. Once I had seen a girl I fancied I just called a waitress over and told her to get the girl a drink. Once the dance was over the girl came across and made for a pleasant evening.

Guess I will be going there again....
