Short time bar with about 70 girls.

Review from
Pattaya Secrets,
Feb 2007: All Veterans
This used to have some lovelies but
sadly disappointed... Around 8-10 girls... all veterans... Had a chat
with two of them... very funny and pleasant... but about as sexually
stimulating as Mrs Doubtfire... They admitted most of the ''sexy'' girls
had gone away with farang or gone home already....
Jan 2005:
The Harley bar is big. It looks like an old
fashioned Western themed bar you might see in Arizona. They have 3 or 4
pool tables in the back. If you decide to take a girl, there is a 150
baht bar fine and 200 baht for a ST room in the hotel. The rooms are
nice since it is a relatively new hotel. Red silk sheets.
I asked the girl how much and she asked me why
I was asking and then quoted 1000 Baht (going rate is 700). They had some
good looking girls though
July 2004:
Suffered the uninvited and ego sapping attractions
of the oldest woman in the bar who would not go away even when given the
cold shoulder treatment. Only option is to leave. Why on earth do the
managers allow this to happen. Never again...even though it is my local
short time bar.

Elephant Bar

News Jan 2007: Restaurant
Expansion
The bar area is now completely restaurant seating. Unfortunately it
looks a little like motorway service area seating. There is a live band
though to up the stakes.
News Aug 2007: More Works
The builders are in. The bar is being extended down
one side. It looks like an auditorium like affair is being built in the
bar area at the back
News July 2006: Elephant

The bar has installed facilities for GoGo dancing. Reportedly open
already but I haven't seen any reviews yet.
Review from
Pattaya Secrets,
April 2006: Big Breakfast
The food at this place is top notch cafe/pub style grub. The portions
are huge, decor ok and no air con. It's hard to beat if you are in that
area and just want a good feed. It is also linked with the Chippy which
is as good a fish and chips as I have had in Pattaya. Well priced too
and always busy.
I have eaten in many places in the world but I have to say the
Breakfast is so big, you actually can't finish it no matter how much you
try.
It gets my vote for quality, value and good people who run it
Summer 2005: Chippy
Decorated with Irish sporting
memorabilia but the British Premiership also gets a fair representation.
The bar features a chippy with a takeaway service if you desire.
There is a restaurant with a choice from the chippy and also a full
Farang & Thai menu.
The food was good, not quite real chip shop chips, but closer than
any other I have tried in Pattaya.
There is also an inner sanctum bar with a pool table

From David, March 2006: Why Not Drop In
A nicely made and appointed bar/restaurant managed by a pleasant
Irishman. Draught Kilkenny, Heiniken and Cider.
On two floors with two pool tables on the second floor. The toilet is
also up there - a steep staircase - so go easy on the canned Guinness.
Also has golfing connections, internet room and free book swap.
Pleasant, quiet location with the right prices for food and drink.

News Feb 2007: Freely Changing Name
Freeway used to be classed as a gogo but declining numbers meant that
the regular dancing was dropped. The bar tried to re-invent itself as
Star Meeting Point but has now reverted back to Freeway.
A new manager has taken the reins and intends to revitalise the bar
starting off with an offer of 30 Baht draft beer.
It is a very attractive bar so a little bit of energy and a few
attractive girls may be all that is needed.

Hollywood
Discotheque
Night club popular with the gay community. Now closed
and will relocate to Soi Phet Trakun in North Pattaya. It will then be
called New Hollywood.
From
Pattaya City News,
Oct 2006: Blazing Hollywood Entrance
In May of 2004 a fire engulfed the entrance of Hollywood Discotheque
located in South Pattaya. A problem with the exterior lighting was
blamed for the fire which luckily resulted in no deaths or major
injures.
In October 2006 it happened again as the entire entrance to the club was
engulfed in flames. The fire occurred at around as staff were
arriving for work. There were no customers inside the club and once
again, no injuries or deaths were reported.
Firefighters were quickly on scene and once again found it difficult to
gain access to the fire because of the location of the club and the
narrowness of the access roads. Eventually the fire was brought under
control and the damage was accessed and the cause of the fire was put
down to an electric short circuit.

Jade Club
Short time bar in an attractive
garden/swimming pool setting
Review May 2008: Oldies
The bar seemed to be in a party mood but the girls were enjoying
their own company. An old and unattractive lady attached herself to me
so I shooed her away. When another oldie joined me as a replacement, I
figured it was time to be off
News Feb 2007: Expensive
The bar seems to have dropped out of favour a
little as the girls now ask for 700 Baht + 300 for the room. The
Wednesday afternoon BBQ is free for anyone who buys a drinks ticket
for 200 Baht. Drinks prices are reasonable at 60 Baht for a bottled
beer.
Review from David, March 2006:
Club-House
The German owned short time bar is known as Jade
Club and the rooms are in the associated hotel, Jade House.
Jade House is a guesthouse/small hotel with about
30 rooms - about 10 of them in a small 3 storey apartment block. There
is a restaurant and pool and it is very nicely laid out. The boss is
popular with his staff.
Jade Club has an aircon bar but loud music and a
garden sitting area. Wednesday afternoons are to be avoided as it is
very popular as barBQ day.
A pleasant place. with mostly German clientel.
January 2006: GoGo Girls
Even in the high season an excellent location.
Many good looking girls as many of them work at GoGos in the evening.
So, it is recommended to come before 17:00h as later girls will leave.
One gets here the ladies for 500,- while in the evening the same girls
cost at least triple.
Summer 2005: Hidden Away
It is a little tricky to find.
Travelling from Pattaya Beach, up the incline of Thappraya Road, a small
lane named "Jomtien Nivate" drops down to your left (And as previously
mentioned on this board has a "Jade house" sign. There is also a
prominent spaghetti for 80 baht advert). About 150m down this lane, turn
right into a smaller lane which leads you straight into the Jade House.
The House itself has some seating outside and is on a raised level,
perhaps 50m down this smaller lane.
ade House is a typical short time place inside
like on Soi 6, but with a lot of bungalow style rooms for rent, some of
which are used for short times....kind of like Welkom Inn does. Jade
House should have someone for just about everyone's taste, and the 5 I
sampled all were good to excellent performers.

Afternoon short time bar billed as a gentleman's club
Review May 2008: Plush
This must be one of the most attractive bars in Pattaya. It is new
and purpose built with a feeling of luxury.
Having passed through the enormous hallway one finds a choice of 3
drinking/smooching areas. There is the main bar, an aircon room and also
the garden.
The ambiance is relaxed and the sofa seating is very comfortable.
There are about 25 girls in attendance circulating around. There are
plenty of pretty drinking partners but there also a few to avoid. They
seem a friendly and lively bunch.
Drinks prices are typical for Pattaya and there were free rather good
sandwiches into the bargain.
There are plenty of good quality rooms on hand and a Jacuzzi
somewhere too.
Rooms are 300 Baht with no further barfine. The girls expect 1000
Baht. The takeaway barfine is set at 500 Baht.
There's plenty of car parking space in front of the bar.

The Lion Pub
Short time bar
October 2005:
The way this bar is run is weird even by
Thai/Pattaya standards. The attention you get seems to depend on whether
the boss is in the bar when you drop in. No boss there today so the only
entertainment I had was scratching my balls on an otherwise empty
plastic sofa and gawking at a muted TV. The ten or so girls present were
chatting among themselves, smoking and mobiling.
September 2005:
Some attractive, well built and friendly girls.
Their ST room/shower is the best I have seen in a long, long while.
2004:
A lot of fun on a party night.
About 20 mostly attractive girls keep the customers entertained by party
games and dancing.
Perhaps they spend too much time entertaining and
not quite enough chatting with the customers.
On a subsequent non-party night I was treated
like a leper.

Review from
Thai Visa,
Dec 2006: World Class Expensive
The deco and atmosphere was fantastic. A real classy feel to the
place. A pre-dinner cocktail was 415 Baht (menu price 350 Baht + 10%
service and 7% tax).
Starters from 415 Baht Steaks starting at 1750 Baht (+ vegetable side orders at 110 Baht each)
The meal was very good, but no better than the Mata Hari, Posidon or
Queens all within a small distance of this Manhattans.
Review from
Thai Visa,
Dec 2006: US Prices
I've had nothing but good reports from my friends who have dined
here. It's been my experience that quality steakhouse restaurants are
not available in Pattaya and that includes the ones mentioned above. My
friends report that some of the side a la carte dishes are nothing
special and can be avoided if you want to cut-corners on the tab.
The prices are equivalent to a good quality steakhouse here in the
U.S. (not that bad considering cost to import quality beef).

Soho Bar
Thappraya Road
(Pattaya end opposite Mini Golf Pub) From 5pm |
Soho
Bar
Short time bar opened 13th March 2007. The new bar is
associated with the popular El Coyote in the Jomtien Complex.
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
June 2007: Good Atmosphere
Some very nice girls, usually 4-6 on duty. Drinks are cheap, the
atmosphere good and girls friendly. The music is good. Room/barfines are
300 with 750 short time.
I think it's well worth a visit and plan to go back again soon.
Review March 2007: Soho Walk Up?
Good to see a new short time bar opening in an area of
town without so many bars.
From a UK slant, the name Soho, does little for me
except conjure up an image of clip joints and establishments best
avoided.
Still I braved the prejudice and found a pretty
standard beer bar layout with bar stools rather than the far more
inviting sofa affairs. The bar is long and narrow and decorated with
many pictures from London.
The bar could do with a little privacy perhaps by
closing the main door. But then again, as there is no air con, then
perhaps it would get unpleasantly hot.
Even after chatting for a while I found it a little
hard to believe that short time was the aim of the bar. None of the
girls chatting to customers appeared to be getting down to anything very
sexy. In fact the girl chatting to me was hardly what you could call
attentive or enticing.
Other little things to iron out were that the music
was a little loud and that the best looking girls were baggsed by the
owner and friends. There were plenty of girls to go around though.
Bottled beer was reasonable at 65 Baht, soft drinks
were 50 Baht & lady drinks 105 Baht. There is also Tiger draft beer. I
didn't ask about the short time prices as didn't want to give my
inattentive drinking partner false hope.
Still early days but I rather suspect that the
hardened short timers will stick with the more discreet and comfortable
Jade Club just up the road.
My drinking friend did make one good point: Do you
know any short time bars on a main road? Made me ponder a while but
there is the Buffalo bar on 3rd Road, albeit set back a bit.

Tigglebitties Tavern
Beer bar opened in autumn 2006
Review April 2007: Pirates & Bras
Tigglebitties is a large beer bar with plenty of
stools at the bar and and plenty more dotted around the many tables and
dancing poles. The decor is naval and pirates
complete with hanging bras, presumably the pirates booty. The bar is
only partially enclosed from the street so there is no feeling of
privacy. There were several girls on hand, of
which a couple were attractive. But they did not make the slightest
effort to get any better acquainted beyond what would you like to
drink? Pleasant enough but surely a little
disappointing to those reading the promotional material. This suggests
that the bar sees itself as The Buffalo Bar but better.

Notes |
|
Pattaya bars most likely to be listed are those that
occupy a permanent looking standalone building. Beer bars in
complexes will not be listed
unless mentioned in dispatches. Gay/Thai/Karaoke bars are not listed due
to a lack of expertise in those areas. Gogo bars are listed on a
separate page. I have added food reviews but
this is not a comprehensive service. I will only list eateries where
people have submitted comments
The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners
may present a rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at
face value...go and see for yourself. Click on the street name to obtain
a map of the bar area.
And a couple of words of warning:
-
In short time rooms...keep an
eye on your wallet to ensure that it stays with you long time.
-
To those with Thai wives, be aware of the motor
cycle taxi network used to keep tabs on errant husbands.

- Dancing Girl ... ST 1000 / LT 2000 (assuming good performance). I would suggest that you should be willing to add an extra

- Street Freelancer ... ST 500 / LT 1000 (no questions, no exceptions)

tip for good service) but now edging up to ST 700 and 300 for
the room
