The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners may present a
rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at face value...go
and see for yourself.

Amazing Paradise Bar
Beer bar
Review from
Pattaya
Rag, Oct 2007: Massive Stable
Amazing Paradise Bar has a massive stable of girls and flat screen
TVs. Not sure which there was more of....
The majority of lookers were pulling punters in from the street and
sadly that's what they continued to do once we were in the bar.
Company in the bar was provided by a more mature group of ladies. We
managed to grab the sofas by the entrance and it was a good vantage
point for watching the girls out front and the girls passing by.
Don't want to appear fussy but I would rate only 3 or 4 of the
girls as being worthy of my dosh.

Review from
Alex, Nov 2007: A Morning Drink
On my arrival to Pattaya I always make a bee line to Anna Jets.
This bar is consistent and the girls very friendly and always new
girls on the scene .
I often enjoy a morning drink there when everywhere else is quiet.
One bit of advice if you find attractive girl don’t hesitate bar fine
quickly as turnover is fast. My friend is still lamenting the girl and
love of his life he missed. He went back to his hotel to change and on
his promised return she was gone. A fine well run watering hole.
Recommended.

Pattaya Secrets
August 2006: Change
Paid bill with a 1000 note by giving the 1000 note to the girl I was
about to go with. Next thing I know, I'm getting presented with the
bill. I look and say Yeah, ok, take it out of the 1000 and give me my
change. Lady looks at me and says you no pay yet.
Even AFTER my girl who works there vouched for me and said yes, I did
give her the 1000 baht note, no one made any attempt to give me any
change. They tore the bar apart looking for the 1000 note. After about
10 minutes of this, they just gave up and went about their regular
business, which is fine, except I still had not gotten about 600 in
change. So, I say nicely to the cashier, where is my change? She says,
let me explain to you the problem we have, which is we can't find the
1000 note. I say, look, I understand you have a problem, but right now,
its your problem, not mine. They grudgingly give me my change.
Review from Pattaya Chat
March 2006: Loud
I think it's already been agreed the rooms are shite but aren't the
women in there fit. I went in there 1st time and have been in there a
few times since. Never barfined from there though. I probably would
barfine a girl from there if the music wasn't so loud and I could
ascertain whether the bird speaks English or not.
It's definitely worth a visit if you don't mind profound deafness for
the next 3 hours.
Review from

February 2006: Total Madness
Indeed this bar is a regular venue of mine for hiring overnight
employees. The double fronted shop style bar has a pool table TV and a
few tables set inside the bar which is open to the Soi. It benefits from
it's own toilet and is well stocked with girls. Not always stunners but
I have had some very good girls from here, one or two I have kept in
touch with for a few years. The bar makes an effort with theme evenings
where the girl dress in unison, the SKA night late last year was great,
total Madness!

Review from Pattaya-Live
May 2008: Good prices and friendly girls
The girls there are always friendly and enjoy just playing the
games and trying to entice a farang to take them home. They are
however choosy and the mama does not pressure them to leave with
anyone. Good prices and friendly girls what more is there to ask for?
Review July 2006:
Watching Out For Own
Goals
I randomly selected the bar for a bit of World Cup viewing. I chatted
a while to a friendly Australian but he departed in search of an
Australian Rules football match rather than the World Cup.
England were being a little boring so I opted for a bit of people
watching. The girls seemed to be enjoying themselves watching the game,
chatting or playing the dice game behind the bar. They were a distinctly
average crew but there were four decent looking girls that were posted
as welcome girls.
I spent some time looking out for some potential customers to walk
past and to be 'welcomed in'. I was wondering whether the attractive
welcome girls would pair off with the newcomer or whether the newcomer
would just be dumped with the average girls behind the bar. (And then he
would, no doubt, take one beer and leave pronto).
My theory will have to wait for another day though...there simply
were no customers to be seen. When it started raining cats & dogs
I had to abandon the research and return to the strikerless England
display.

Disco and coyote bar opened in April 2008. Previously Oasis Coyote.
Closed in June 2008
News June 2008: Wasta Bling
The predictions were correct and the bar didn't last long.
Review April 2008: Wasta Bling
I was passing by way too early but I thought I would pop in to take
a look anyway.
It was a total disaster with in the first minute of walking in.
First of all they had opened the bar before there was any conceivable
entertainment. They had not even turned on the music. But I thought I
would at least look around and ask the staff about the bar.
Within the first minute, a ladyboy arrived at my table to take my
drinks order only to get it wrong. He then thought that he could hang
round for a ladyboy drink. His opening conversational gambit was:
one drink for me?
Quickly dismissing the unwelcome dancing boy, I asked a service
girl about the bar. Apparently it is a disco with some coyote dancing.
The drinks prices are set around the 120-140 baht mark but there is
much cheaper happy hour. There are drinks menus on the tables.
The layout of the bar consists of a lounge area with decent seating
and then a dancing area with a couple of dancing stages and a
prominent stage for the DJ. There were incredibly tacky, wobbling
stools dotted around.
Surely the bar will have to improve on the customer experience this
early bird received. Otherwise they will just have to rely on the
famous brand name to entice a few Pattaya newbies.

Bar 52
Beer bar
News from Ryan, Sep 2007: Gone Aircon
Bar 52 (the old bar) is still next to the Eastiny
Place, but it is now being ran by Kung's younger brother Mee, same bar
no changes excellent.
But there is now a new Bar 52 at the bottom end of Soi
8, which is ran by Kung and Steffano. It is now indoors and
therefore has aircon, also sells food, and they also have rooms for
rent. Same great clientel great service, great bar.
Review from Ryan, Dec 2006: Superlatives
I agree with the article on bar 52, it is owned by Kung and her
husband Steffano, they are fantastic, good location, I can't use enough
superlatives to describe this place.
Summer 2005:
This is one of my fav bars it is like my local away from
home. Towards the 2nd Road end of Soi 8 across from the U2 bar. Again a mixed
bag with the girls but is made up for by the friendliness of everyone in
the bar. The toilets are shared with the bar next door and are mixed
clean but will cost 5 baht. I find it a great bar for me what counts is
the staff and how friendly they are well worth a visit anytime of
night/morning

Review by Nightmarch, January 2006: Cleaner and Fresher
The Dennis The Menace beer boozer is certainly cleaner and fresher than
most of its rivals in Fun Town and offers a good happy hour. Their
advertising says 'Campanologists welcome'. Yes, I had to look up the word
as well: it means bell ringers. High season usually has plenty of two-week
millionaires prepared to turn campanologist with very little urging, so
Dennis and his damsels should be doing OK.

Recommended to me by a Thai monk who's brother

sport. There are about 8 girls in attendance
The second section comprises of two pool tables at 20 baht a game. The
girls are always happy to beat you hollow.
The final section is a lounge featuring wicker chairs.

Review from Chris, May 2006: A Bit of
Banter
I would like to add that the eagle bar was sound when I was there. I
found it the best place to chill and have a drink in the day. I didn't
take any of the girls from the bar as I knew that I probably wouldn't
have then gone back again the day after (me being bit of a butterfly!).
Just didn't want to miss out! The girls were so easy to get on with and
unlike other bars conversation went past 'take me with you' or 'buy me
lady drink' they could join in a bit of banter as good as the English
lads sat around. Brilliant bar can't wait to see them again
March 2006:
My favorite daytime bar is definitely Eagle Bar. Singha 40 baht,
Heinie 50 baht 24/7. When I'm in the mood, sangsam coke is 40 baht.
The bargirls are generally older and hardly stunners, but a good bunch
to relax and chat with on a hot day.

The lively owner and manageress, Fon (pictured centre), seems to
put more effort into welcoming the customers than most nearby bars. The
bar is always popular as a result. Golden Time has now expanded into
the next door bar which was always relatively quiet.
One of the features of the Golden Time is the chrome pole which is
used for occasional dancing and also for a climbing challenge. The fit
and athletic are invited to climb the poll and write their name on the
ceiling. I am sure there are suitable rewards for success and penalties
for failure.

On my last trip to Pattaya I drank most days (during the afternoon)
at Happiness Star bar in Soi 7. Having stopped originally just for a
quick beer the staff were very friendly and not at all pushy just
ensured that I had a good time.
On my daily return they remembered my name and continued with their
friendly attitude. Several could speak good English which helped.
The beer was cold, the prices friendly and I noticed that they were
the only bar that offered me cold face towel this trip. Last year and
prior years most bars the towel was the first thing offered after you
had ordered a drink. Maybe times are tough for the bar business and cost
saving policies are in place. Hope happiness Star bar keeps the good
work up.

A bottle of Heineken is 280 baht - even more expensive than a Bacardi
Breezer at 200 baht. When I questioned the Manager about the price she
claimed the inflated beer price was for the 'excellent' live music one
can experience in their establishment. If you are ordering a beer in
Hard Rock, stick to the Singha which is priced at 130 baht

Lek Bar

Review from
Pattaya Today:
Night March, Nov 2006: Eclectic music
One nice place is Lek Bar. In all the years I’ve been wandering into
the joint there might have been four or five damsels worth a second
look, so it’s not a real ‘hostess’ boozer. It’s the kind of place you go
into with a friend who knows either the eponymous Lek or her Pommy
husband Charlie.
Lek and Charlie are a very welcoming and friendly couple and if you have
a hankering to listen to any particular style of music (and I do not
include rap, hip hop and techno in that word ‘music’), then it’s almost
certain Charlie would be able to find a CD or two to satisfy even the
most eclectic of tastes.
Review 2005: Chilling
My favourite bar in Pattaya is Lek bar near the bottom of Soi 7.
Its a no hassle place and a great place for chilling and watching the
circus roll by. Charlie and Lek are smashing people and make for good
company when you get a bit fed up of the constant 'where you come from,
why you hab lorng hair too mut, I go with you etc'
Charlie has a great choice of music and you will always get your
preference on at some stage.

December 2005:
One of my favorite bars and I enjoy the show. There was one gal there
that was just gorgeous and danced up a storm in the show. My girl said
she was no ladyboy and I had to agree as we were sitting right in front.
No guy could move like that.
November 2005:
The Malibu is an open bar and restaurant
complete with cabaret style show. The show is free and quite good
although on a much smaller scale than the big boys above. There is a
mixture of real girls and transvestites and some very good celebrity
impersonators.
The food although nothing special is OK
February 2005:
The free cabaret show starts from 7:00pm with the main attraction,
the Tina Turner Show, scheduled for 9:45pm and 11:45pm. When performed
by the star performer, the Tina Turner impersonation is hilarious. Even
when one of his understudies takes his place, it is still a lot of fun.

I visited the Nice Bar Soi 8 during my trip 2006. The
prices were very reasonable and the girls chatty and not pushy. The

while I was there and I was offered a piece. By then I felt like one of

Review from
Pattaya-Live,
June 2008: Aircon
From outside it looks really smart, simple lines and the colours
black, chrome, and purple with shimmering glass give it a real upmarket
look. Inside much of the same clean lines, blacked out
walls/ceiling/tables but with some clever lighting effects which work
really well.
The way it is designed gives you a 'in an open bar on soi8' feel as you
can watch the world go by through the huge glass windows, it's
air-conditioned and the use of Air-curtains on the entrances at the
front of the bar keep the temp all regulated without blocking your view.
I really liked the marketing touch of passing 'free' shots around every
now and again. Much appreciated.
Well worthy of a visit!
News from Party Bar, March 2008:
Re-open after Refurbishment
The bar has a whole new look with only 1 central bar

girls are a mixed bag like most bars some good some well but they are
great fun and are not to pushy for drinks and bar fines. The normal
games are played and also has a few pool tables which are very good for
Pattaya. The WC is clean and FREE. They have live music which is a
relief from my normal watering holes on Soi7/8.The band play a wide
range of stuff and one can still hear yourself speak when they are
playing. All in all a good bar to start or end the night

March 2006: Refreshing Pint
I love to start the day here where I can be assured of a nice
refreshing pint.
The pub is very comfortable, and I like to sit by the window, and do a
spot of people-watching, or sit near a TV screen and watch a few music
videos or read the sport in the Bangkok Post.
The food in my experience, is always good . Full English breakfast ,
highly recommended. While most Farangs seem to order Fish and Chips,
steak and so on, I've enjoyed many great Thai meals here , Green Chicken
Curry, Stir fry Thai noodle with Pork, all good stuff, fresh, tasty, and
cheap.
Girls (staff) wear cute little blue dresses too, nice and short!

November 2005:
AT the early hour of 8pm the bar seemed well stocked with pretty

Possibly the 'Premier' is a reference to the Premier League,
particularly as the bar was showing an Everton match when I visited. I
have a feeling that any fan would prefer to listen to the commentary
though, which was pretty nigh on impossible. A band playing Shadows

Review from Lindsay, June 2008:
Off Day
We went there for lunch last year 2007. The waitress was rude to my
wife, the pork roast I could have repaired my shoes with the rubbish and
we were the only customers there at the time and I’m not surprised if
what we were served up with is the norm.
Maybe it was our turn to have their bad experience or it was an off day
but the place isn’t cheap. I’m in the industry and I don’t bother to
complain, I just don’t go back however after having great meals at
Secrets and the French restaurant towards the end of Walking Street Le
Notte, and Sailors Bar in Soi 8 what a disappointment.
Rosie’s promotes themselves as a traditional English, Continental and
Thai food establishment so maybe they are not training their staff to
cover such a range of fare. Or as I said maybe it was an off day.

Sailor Bar
Beer bar
Review from Pattaya Secrets.
Nov 2007: Cheap
Some of the cheapest drinks in Pattaya and particularly noted as an
afternoon bar. The food is noted as good value also.
The girls were less noteworthy though as comments ranged from 'no
smiles', to 'no go'. But as expected there are a few hansum men who
found otherwise
Review from Pattaya Addicts,
June 2007: Favourite
When just relaxing and not in major hunting mode I like the Sailor
Bar on Soi 8. Cheap drinks all day - beers 40 -45 baht, all other drinks
and cocktails no more than 60-65 baht. Food pretty good. The odd looker
or 2 working there. No hustle or hassle.
December 2005: Bad Start...But
I sit down and ask the lady how much is a Chang Beer, not noticing
that the prices are all posted on the wall (40 baht I think). She
mistakenly tries to sell me 2 beers. I say I only want one. She gets all
pissy and says something to the cashier, who points at me and says
something in Thai followed by "Stupid Falang". Then the bartender says I
should buy her a LD since I screwed up the order. This is not going well.
I immediately check bin and a different girl asks, "What wrong?" I
explain to her that I'm from Las Vegas and I make tips for a living and
I usually tip well, but since none of the Sailor Bar staff seem happy to
have me there, I'm leaving after I drink my beer, UNLESS someone does
something to change my mind. This girl immediately took it upon herself
to entertain me by dancing around and generally schmoozing for the next
hour.
Things took a turn for the better, some different server girls
appeared who were fun, the electricity even went out at one point and
they lit candles for our drinking pleasure. I had two more beers and
bought a LD for her, then tipped her 100 baht. I will return.

Review from
Pattaya Chat,
May 2006: Sanuck
I've tended to use "We are the World Bar" as somewhere to go with a
girl on the way back to hotel, the live music does make a big difference
and I think that it is that that attracts many.
The beer is also fairly cheap and it's a very laid back and friendly
place; I've had much sanuck with the staff there. You don't get much
hassles for lady drinks either but company is immediately available if
you want it.
Can also get food right outside from the passing Beach Road
travelling caterers and the staff don't mind you eating in the bar,
though it's even better to share some with them
December 2005:
Cheap beer and some decent looking girls at night. The daytime crew
leaves a bit to be desired in the looks department, but sanuk mak at
night.
